Honored to Participate
United Voices for Global Impact (UVGI) is honored to have participated in the Civil Society Forum 2025, held in the vibrant city of Seville, Spain, ahead of the United Nations 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4).
This two-day global gathering brought together civil society delegates, activists, networks, federations, and social movements from around the world—those deeply engaged in the Financing for Development (FfD) process and its interrelated domains.
Concluding a two-day forum, civil society organizations organized a march on June 29th in Seville to urge world leaders to take a decisive action on debt cancellation, climate justice, and a more equitable global financial system.
Purpose and Participation
The Civil Society Forum serves as a critical space for:
- Exchanging knowledge
- Advocating for equitable and inclusive global financing policies
- Strengthening collective action for sustainable development
More than 1,000 civil society representatives participated, reaffirming their commitment to democratic accountability, human rights, climate justice, and fair global economic governance.
High-Level Attendance and Key Messages
The Forum was graced by distinguished global leaders, including:
- First Vice President of the Government of Spain
- Prime Minister of Nepal
- UN Deputy Secretary-General
Each delivered powerful remarks underscoring the vital role of civil society in shaping fair and inclusive global financing frameworks.
Structure and Organization
The Forum was organized by the Civil Society FfD Mechanism, in close collaboration with national, regional, and local CSO coordination platforms in Spain—all active members of the Mechanism. It was:
- Structured around plenary sessions to allow for collective dialogue, strategic discussion, and global solidarity
This inclusive format ensured that the voices of grassroots movements, regional networks, and marginalized communities were not only heard—but also amplified.
Final Declaration: Civil Society’s Collective Voice
The Forum culminated in the adoption of a powerful Civil Society Declaration, reflecting:
- Civil society’s collective assessment of the ongoing negotiations around the FfD4 Outcome Document, titled “Compromiso de Sevilla”
- A unified political statement and roadmap for equitable global financing and sustainable development
This Declaration will be formally presented at the official FfD4 proceedings, reinforcing civil society’s voice at the highest levels of global decision-making.
UN Secretary-General’s Statement to Civil Society
In a special address, UN Secretary-General AntĂłnio Guterres recognized the essential contribution of civil society and encouraged continued engagement to ensure that global financing systems reflect the realities and aspirations of people everywhere.
Why This Matters
The Civil Society Forum 2025 is not just a preparatory meeting—it is a vital mechanism for:
- Promoting accountability in global financing decisions
- Elevating democratic participation in UN processes
- Connecting local and regional communities with international policy dialogues
United Voices for Global Impact is proud to stand alongside global civil society in this mission for just, inclusive, and people-centered financing for development.
