United Voices for Global Impact (UVGI) co-organizes a parallel event at UN CSW69

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, USA | 14 March 2025 – United Voices for Global Impact (UVGI) proudly announces its active participation in the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from March 10 to 21, 2025. This year’s session marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, reaffirming global commitments to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

As part of its engagement, UVGI co-organizes, co-sponsors, and participates in multiple side and parallel events, fostering critical discussions and contributing to panel dialogues on the intersection of Women’s health and environment, preventive care, and gender equality. Notably, UVGI co-organizes and co-sponsors the high-impact parallel event:

Parallel Event: How Can We Lower Environmental Health Impact on Women and Girls
Date: March 14, 2025
Time: 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Church Center of the United Nations
Organizers & Co-Sponsors: Soroptimist International, Zonta International, United Voices for Global Impact, Soroptimist International of Anchorage Alaska, NGO CSW Geneva

This session explores the far-reaching consequences of environmental degradation on the health of millions of women and girls worldwide. Environmental hazards, including climate change, air pollution, and heat stress, disproportionately impact women and girls, exacerbating health risks and socio-economic disparities. The panel features experts with diverse perspectives and expertise discussing the cause-and-effect relationship between degraded natural environments and the health of women and girls, as well as the urgent need for gender-responsive policies and action to mitigate these challenges.

Key Discussion Points:

  • Understanding the scale of impact: How many women and girls are affected by environmental health risks;
  • Identifying the health consequences: The link between environmental degradation and increased risks on the health of women and girls;
  • Addressing economic and social burdens: The net extra costs of healthcare and social services due to environmental health issues.
  • Proposing solutions: call to action, policy interventions, and community-based strategies for mitigation and adaptation.
